This is how Edina Kulcsár teaches her children about conscious oral care

She doesn't let her children do the same as her

Edina Kulcsár, a former beauty queen and mother of six, believes that early development of oral care habits is particularly important, learning from her childhood experiences. She says that as a little girl, she didn't receive enough guidance on how to brush her teeth properly, so now she consciously strives to teach her own children this in an experiential way, with sonic toothbrushes and playful methods.

Edina Kulcsár is not only known for her red carpet appearances: as a mother of six, she is also an everyday heroine who speaks honestly about the challenges she faces every day in such a large family. For Edina, daily routine is particularly important, including dental care, in the development of which modern devices, such as Oclean sonic toothbrushes, are of great help. “With us, brushing teeth is just as important a part of the day as eating or evening stories. The youngest is only nine months old, but she already watches what the adults are doing,” says Edina, adding that regularity is not always easy, but setting an example is worth more than anything. According to her, if children see that both mom and dad brush their teeth regularly and with joy, they are more willing to join in. Modern sonic toothbrushes, such as Oclean's products, help with this, making dental care more playful and enjoyable, and contributing to the development of good habits even in the youngest children.

They did more harm than good to her in the past

Edina knows the importance of oral hygiene from her own experience. As a child, she grew up in modest circumstances and for a long time did not have the opportunity to receive quality dental care. “I went to a dental office where they often did more harm than good. I had root canals unnecessarily, had several teeth pulled, and now I have implants. This past has led to the fact that I am now almost a “dentist maniac” – I go for regular check-ups because I know how important prevention is,” she says honestly.

Edina recently switched to an electric toothbrush – she had previously always used a soft-bristled, traditional toothbrush that she replaced every month or two, as recommended. However, the new experience was so convincing for her that she has not been able to imagine her mornings without it since. For her, it is not only about health, but also about self-confidence. As a public figure, model, and presenter, she is in front of the camera almost every day, so it is especially important for her to have a well-groomed and tidy smile. “This is a kind of extra self-confidence for me. There was a time when I was ashamed to smile because of my missing teeth. It embarrassed me and I couldn’t really be free. That’s why I pay attention now “so much there” – she honestly admits.

Even on weekdays, she always has her “emergency equipment” at hand: interdental cleaner, toothbrush, toothpaste, and often a small bottle of mouthwash hidden in her bag. According to Edina, this is not an exaggeration – quite the opposite. “Many people hide these, but I think it’s a matter of pride when someone pays so much attention to themselves. For example, I have a phobia of food getting stuck between my teeth – so these always come with me.”

She encourages children with a points system

With six children, time is the greatest treasure, so Edina uses every practicality to make the system work. For example, her own, home-based points system makes brushing teeth exciting: those who follow the rules get red points, those who don’t get black points. After ten red points, there is a thousand forint reward, which the children can exchange for a game.

“We also value it when someone says it’s time to brush their teeth – it’s a fun but very effective method,” says Edina, laughing.

Experts: the right toothbrushing routine depends on parental example

Experts also confirm the importance of proper oral care. According to Dr. Márk Dergez, the chief specialist of the MindentMent Dental Practice Network, proper oral hygiene not only preserves the health of teeth and gums, but also supports the functioning of the entire body. “Inflammations present in the mouth – such as periodontal disease – can be associated with cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, and even premature birth. A healthy mouth reduces the body’s inflammatory burden. Devices such as the Oclean X Ultra20 can also help in establishing a proper oral care routine, which provides real-time audio feedback and helps to establish the correct technique – thus preventing some of the inflammations,” explains the specialist.

Establishing an oral care routine is primarily the responsibility of parents – this is what dental hygienist Eszter Ferenczi, owner of Dental Rituals, believes. “Parents often start brushing their teeth too late or use the wrong technique. Parental help is essential until the age of 6-8, and the best method is a playful approach: colorful toothbrushes, child-friendly toothpastes, shared brushing rituals, and praise for every achievement.”

Modern solutions such as Oclean sonic toothbrushes can be of great help in this regard. The vibrating technology provides gentle yet thorough cleaning, and it also makes it easier to reach hard-to-reach areas. “Such devices make brushing your teeth a positive experience, which children are more willing to do every day,” adds Eszter Ferenczi.

The range includes, for example, the Oclean X Pro20, which makes brushing your teeth more exciting with playful statistics and customizable display animations. The more advanced X Ultra20 model now also provides real-time voice feedback on the correct brushing technique, and also creates spectacular brushing reports – these can be particularly useful for parents, who can thus better monitor their children’s development. The Oclean W10 lite portable oral irrigator can be a favorite of families on the go – thanks to its slim design and high-frequency pulsation, it helps remove food debris anywhere, anytime.
